Welcome Redemption

I’ve been crowning land

for terrorist men

far too long.

What is it they seek?

peaceful women?

fresh starts?

a place to bury mangled hearts?

Their wicked lies

weaponized

roll of their tongues

and crawl

through their teeth

on ears

willing to believe.

They start wars

on healed bodies

and merciful souls.

Water board

on beautiful minds

they plant

mines.

These men

spare no time

collecting bounties

on unsuspecting heads

turn you in

for loving

them.

They stash grenades

in the thick of our walls

we’ll detonate their salvation

and gaze

with dawn in our eyes

their bloody downfall.

And where their bodies lie

we’ll set fire

send a prayer to the skies

may they not

destroy another woman

with their sick disguise.

As our wounds sing songs

and our cries fill pools

we’ll pour one last libation

for the undoing

of these fools.

Let’s revel

a new season

to dance with

close the gates

of broken promises

and what could’ve beens

Welcome redemption

like a second skin.
